Home Stretch!!!

5 days left until the scheduled C-section to bring the little guy to this world. I am getting sick with anticipation. We have a new little wrinkle in the delivery. Holly is going to have an amnio done to see if his lungs are developed. This is where they take a giant-ass needle and stick into her belly and try and draw fluid out of the womb. There is a small risk of having this trigger labor, so he could go on Monday.

If his lungs are fine, we stick with Tuesday. If his lungs are not developed, Holly will start taking steroid shots and we will have to wait another couple of days while his lungs develop and Holly's beard grows. Hopefully she doesn't have a roid rage and attack me, but I still think I can take her.

I am a little nervous about this procedure, but I am confident that it will be fine. In our last visit 9 days ago, he was measuring in at 5 lbs. 7 oz., which is pretty sweet. That would mean he would hover around 6.5 pounds when he is taken out of Holly. I have a co-worker who had a full term baby at 6 pounds 4 ounces and he was fine. So I think it will turn out good.

I am taking 2.5 weeks off of work and that will be cool to help Holly recover and become acquainted with this new guy. I have no clue what to expect, but I am painfully excited. My job has been super understanding and everyone is eager to hear the news.

Holly is pretty nervous about the surgery. She is probably more nervous that I will look over the curtain and see her cut open and pass out. My wife and new baby are going through a risky procedure, and she is worried about the idiot standing in the room (Me). She is pretty nervous also about the healing process, because this is not the first time she has gone through with it. But this time, her body will not have shut down on her before the surgery, so hopefully the healing process is a little easier than last time.

This weekend, she plans on cleaning the house with her mother. Her nesting period is in its final stages. Fortunately, I have a test in my Accounting Class on Monday Night and I have to have dinner with a customer Sunday Night, so I get to skip out on the cleaning to study for the exam. I have already warned the professor about the potential Monday delivery and he is completely cool with that (this guy is an excellent and understanding teacher; I wish there were more of him in my undergraduate program). The cleaning should help the house look better, but also allow the time to fly by for Holly which she needs.

The baby room is pretty much all set and we have all that I think we need for now. We have a million sets of clothes for him, we probably have too much. I bought some Patriots and Red Sox outfits on EBay. I probably bought too many and he will wear them once, but that is OK, they will make for great pictures.

My mother is fired up to be a grandmother. I think she will do an outstanding job at it. We will just have to try and stop her from spoiling him (like most grandparents do). It helps that she is close by now. I am sure she will be trying to get us to go out on a date so she can watch the baby.

Well, wish us luck!!!! Hopefully my next post is with pictures of the little guy!!!!
